YFES HOTEL
KYTHNOS
GREECE

Located on Flambouria beach, on Kythnos Island, Yfes hotel is perfect for finding your inner peace in the most self-spoiling way.

The view? Magnetizing from every room and every part of the hotel. I spent hours looking at the sea. Every morning, I opened my eyes to count water reflections.

Every sunset, I was on the hunt for waves. It was a silent mental hunt; extremely self-soothing. Every night I counted stars like a little child. I counted them one by one.

The breakfast? Very abundant, even for the biggest food lovers. Served on the terrace of Keramos restaurant, it was full of pastries and little bites from all over Greece.

From warm Bougatsa, a sweet crispy phyllo pie filled with custard cream, to Strapatsada, a Greek traditional dish with scrambled eggs and fresh tomatoes, the day started in the most delicious way. And the view made everyone more hungry and everything even more appetising!

The rooms? Well thought -down to every little detail- and clearly influenced by the Cycladic simplicity as well as Kythnos’ earthy colours and textures.

With only a few rooms, all guests get the privacy they deserve while some of them also get their private jacuzzi.

My favourite thing? ‘Kryfo’ which means ‘secret’ in Greek. ‘Kryfo’ is a secluded private deck for all the guests that want to enjoy the refreshing blue waters of the Aegean in complete calmness and privacy.

My second favourite thing? Yfes’ playlist. You see…I love getting lost in music. I love that magic moment when a song simply unlocks so many memories, so many thoughts and directly takes you to a specific moment or place. And there were plenty of these moments at Yfes.

They say that if you hear your favourite music, your brain lights up and releases dopamine. Well…my brain definitely lit up!

Kythnos is undeniably a beautiful island. But Yfes hotel is so special that I somehow preferred spending time on my terrace than exploring the island itself. And I admit it… I did feel a twinge of guilt about it but how could I resist?
