Florence is a city that perfectly combines old with new, a great history with today’s modernity, so is Horto Convento Hotel.

I have to admit I had never heard of Horto Convento Hotel before. So I did a bit of research.

I was a bit surprised when I first found out that this place used to be a convent and that it has been partially transformed into a hotel.

Initially I was hesitating; the idea of staying in an old convent seemed a bit bizarre. Eventually, I am glad I did!

 This hotel perfectly corresponds to Florence’s atmosphere; old mixes gracefully with new and the result is astonishing!

The location of this place is not bad either as the hotel is hidden in a gorgeous courtyard that is barely visible from the main street.

This certainly makes it a bit less touristy -something I always consider to be a positive thing- but still it does not prevent it for being a super charming corner of central Florence.

If you are one of those explorers that always look for something different, something unique and something that will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the local culture and heritage this might be the place to stay.
